Bihar elections : 51 names in the first list of Jansuraj candidates

Prashant Kishore’s Jansuraj Party has released its first list of candidates for the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections. This list includes 51 names, including several prominent figures.

The most prominent name is Jagriti Thakur, granddaughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Karpuri Thakur, who has been nominated from Morwa in Samastipur.

She joined Jansuraj three months ago. Upon joining the party, she stated that politics is only conducted in her grandfather’s name and that she will fulfill his dream.

The second major name in the first list of Jan Suraj candidates is RCP Singh’s daughter, Lata Singh. She has been nominated from Asthawan.

Party national president Uday Singh announced the candidates’ names in a press conference. Mathematician Professor KC Sinha from Kumhrar, Bhojpuri actor and singer Ritesh Ranjan Pandey from Kargahar, former IPS officer RK Mishra from Darbhanga, and YV Giri from Manjhi have also received tickets.

Priority given to extremely backward candidates

Of the 51 candidates announced by Jan Suraj, the highest number of 17 are from the extremely backward class. 11 are from backward classes, and 8 or 9 are from minorities.

The remaining candidates are from the general category. The party has announced candidates for only 7 reserved seats, but 28 of the 51 candidates are from the backward or extremely backward classes.
