Jaunpur: Young man hangs himself at cremation ground

On Friday, the body of a young man was found hanging from the angle of a cement shed with the help of a towel at the cremation ground on the Sai River near Harakhpur village in the Sikrara police station area. A Panchnama was conducted and the body was sent for post-mortem.

Station in-charge Uday Pratap Singh said that Akhilesh Nishad, alias Jhagdu (40), a resident of Harakhpur village, committed suicide by hanging himself with a towel from an angle in the ghat shed.

According to family members, he was mentally retarded. Police arrived on the information, took possession of the body, and began necessary action.

The deceased had two children: son Sumit (15) and daughter Shivani (12). A villager was visiting the ghat and saw Jhagdu hanging from a noose and informed the village. The body was exhumed and a forensic team is investigating the case.
