The Indian Army contingent is led by a battalion of the Gorkha Rifles, with selected troops from other contingents.

The annual exercise, Austrahind 2025, aims to enhance military cooperation, improve interoperability, and provide a platform for the participating armies to exchange tactics, techniques, and procedures in the field of sub-conventional warfare in urban/semi-urban terrain.

The exercise will focus on company-level joint operations in open and semi-desert terrain. The exercise will involve joint planning, tactical exercises, special weapons skills, and effective conduct of various missions.

This exercise will provide a valuable opportunity to refine operational capabilities, test the integration of emerging technologies, and enhance the efficiency of joint operations in a realistic combat environment.

Participation in Exercise Austrahind 2025 will provide a new impetus to defence cooperation between India and Australia, and will also strengthen the spirit of mutual camaraderie, coordination, and trust between the armies of the two countries.
