Kerala – Landslide amid heavy rains in Wayanad, more than 100 people buried under debris, Five including two children died

A landslide has occurred in Wayanad, Kerala after heavy rains. More than 100 people are feared to be trapped under the debris due to the landslide, rescue operations are being carried out to save people. It is being told that five people have died in the landslide, including two children.

The Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) said that fire and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed in the affected area.

At the same time, an additional NDRF team is going to Wayanad. According to the CMO of the area, the Health Department – National Health Mission has opened a control room and issued helpline numbers 9656938689 and 8086010833 for emergency assistance.

Two Air Force helicopters MI-17 and one ALH have taken off from Sulur at 7.30 am. Rescue operations will be coordinated.

All hospitals in Kerala including Vaithiri, Kalpatta, Meppadi and Mananthavady hospitals are ready.

All health workers arrived for service at night. More teams of health workers will be deployed in Wayanad.
