“Union Education Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated the Vikasit Bharat Buildathon (VBB) 2025 in New Delhi yesterday”

Over 300,000 schools participated in Vikasit Bharat Buildathon 2025, India’s largest coordinated innovation hackathon for school students.
During the inaugural session, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan interacted with students from PM Shri Government High School, Khorda, Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
In his address, Shri Pradhan congratulated and wished the over 300,000 schools and participating students across the country for their enthusiastic participation in this massive school innovation initiative.
He expressed confidence that the innovative ideas generated here will pave the way for creating new global models and finding solutions to domestic and global challenges.
He said that our talented school students will play a crucial role in building a developed and prosperous India. He also emphasized that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047 will be realized through transformative initiatives like VBB. The Union Minister urged the students to play an active role in shaping the future of the country.
During his address, Mr. Sanjay Kumar, Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education, commended the participation and efforts of students across the country in this initiative.
Mr. Kumar also said that this unique campaign will enhance students’ learning capabilities and strengthen their innovative approach. Mr. Kumar also thanked Union Education Minister Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan for his guidance and support.
Mr. Deepak Bagla, Mission Director, Atal Innovation Mission, underscored the growing importance of VBB, saying that the Buildathon will make innovation a mass movement. He also said that it will connect schools in remote villages with schools in metropolitan cities.
Mr. Pradhan also visited Delhi Public School, Mathura Road, and PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2, Delhi Cantt, to interact with students and teachers.
Mr. Pradhan observed several innovative projects by the students and learned about their learning process. He commended the students’ creativity and enthusiasm and encouraged them to remain inquisitive.
He also appreciated their extraordinary creativity required for active contribution towards the goal of self-reliant India.
The inaugural session was followed by a 120-minute live Innovation Challenge. Over 10 million students participated in this two-hour live tinkering session.
Students from grades 6 to 12 worked in teams of 3-5 to create prototypes based on four themes: Atmanirbhar Bharat, Swadeshi, Vocal for Local, and Prosperity.
A special highlight of the program was the School Spotlight, which saw over 150 schools from remote areas, aspirational districts, hilly states, and border regions connect live to share their progress and experiences.
